[Sam Burnell] ✓ A Queen's Mercenary: A Medieval Military Historical Fiction Novel Set in the 16th Century - Mercenary For Hire Book 3 [nigeria PDF] Ebook Epub Download ✓ Didn t like this, couldn t get into it and gave up on it about 12% into it, so perhaps this review is overly harsh I realise this is book 3 of a series groans at the thought of yet another series of books does no one write standalone novels any but it leapt right into the story with no scene setting The start of the novel involved the calming of a horse in a ship and perhaps because I didn t read it all which seems to have no bearing on the story whatsoever I found the writing style unusual and the sentence formations clumsy at times and not to my liking I skipped to the end, but there was no end, just a lead in to the next story in the series At least it wasn t written in 1st person singular which is so popular these days.
I may be a bit old school but I do like a books to have a beginning, middle and end Unfortunately this book one of an indeterminate number of future books starts in the previous and may end in the next overall it seemed to be an interlude While I am enjoying the overall and continuing plot, and the writing is getting less clunky, it is frustrating that it is so static in plot development.
An enjoyable historical novel It s nice to get lost in the past Stories like this also help us to realise how rich we are now.
It was fascinating to see them thinking about manufacturing progress, although they were about 300 years ahead of themselves with sprue.
A reasonable marketing ploy perhaps, but the ending was disappointingly abrupt for me.
I enjoyed the story line and the characters Where s the next one I m not sure if I haven t got the series mixed up That s the problem when you don t read the full volumes one after the other Ah So here we go again.
A neat little story about historical English aristocracy that builds some travels around updating mercenaries to newer firearms and technology in the middle ages The story is simple, the characters spend a lot of time finding themselves in various situations and we are left with the need to see if there is another novel that completes the action Or, likely leads the reader on to the next revelation.
