This book came exactly before Christmas, just when I needed it, in beautiful condition Both the book cover and the CD were spotless.
I was first introduced to this story in a class I took for professional development This year I used the book with Kindergarten and 2nd grade students as part of my Christmas Around the World Unit We looked at a map of No Man s Land, talked about where the setting of the story was, and found the area on a world map I also found a diagram of trench warfare which showed the Allies and Axis powers and had them color code them on the map We talked about the language barrier and how most of the soldiers couldn t understand each other but were able to communicate in other ways We discussed how they used candles on the Christmas tree and why they didn t use lights We made candles out of Model Magic for them to take home.
Masterful song thankfully included and good book A nice Christmas story to add variety to your collection and opportunity to discuss history with the kids.
Great read about a true event that happened during WW1 loved it As a family of veterans, including WWII, we have enjoyed this holiday remainder of peace and understanding It s a great family book to read and enjoy over and over.
