[ Paul McCusker] Þ Voyage with the Vikings [sociology PDF] Ebook Epub Download õ I grew up in the early days of Adventures in Odyssey, and the Imagination Station I remember clearly trying to remember to turn on the radio at the exact time that the program was going on I didn t always make it, and often then not missed the program completely, but I have fond memories of the times that we did listen My enjoyment of Odyssey has continued with me into adulthood That is one of the reasons that I jumped at the chance to review this book Voyage with the Vikings is a completely delightful, easy reader The book is recommended for children ages 7 and up, and I can t wait to be able to share this story with my son when he reaches that age The book is not overly Christian in it s message, but it is an enjoyable and clean adventure for young readers to immerse themselves in I wish that I had books like this when I was young Through three children now, I ve used these books to transition to chapter books and it has happened beautifully My 3rd child has been most resistant to reading but I d casually pick it up and declare we are only reading one chapter, only to be met with his despair that the chapter was over He finally admitted They re just so INTERESTING as if he was surprised that books could be so I still have to play it cool but we re on the 5th one and he will read it on his own every now and then Plus it brings our real God unto the story in a natural way Love love Thank you And My 11 and 9 year old are still wanting the latest ones as they come out My kids just don t have enough of the Adventures in Odyssey program Every time we are in our truck driving somewhere they request it When we went to the swimming lessons, it was our weekly listening time with AIO Imagine my delight when I realized that AIO now have books linked to The Imagination Station I just knew the kids would enjoy them As a parent, I always take the habit of reading a book before my kids go through it But in this instance, I didn t I knew that there was quality when it comes to AIO and Focus on the Family But I did grab the book one night, read about half of it before going to bed and read the rest early in the morning the next day I enjoyed the story even though it is clearly written for children a
I bought this book for the 3rd 5th grade students in my special education resource classroom This book was a perfect fit for my students It kept their attention and they also learned a lot about the Vikings at the same time These books are along the lines of The Magic Treehouse series of books, however, they are easier to read much better for my struggling readers My students loved this book so much they have started reading ahead to see what comes next That s a big deal for struggling readers Be aware public school teachers There is a some very little talk of God and Christianity in this book It is not preachy at all, though If your school district or students parents would object to even a tiny amount of religious content, you may want This series is perhaps one of the BEST series my boys have ever had My 10 year old started these when they first came out and is currently WAITING for 16 to come out My 3rd grader 8 and dyslexic just finished reading this book and enjoyed it from beginning to end We read it together and he would always say after every chapter end oooooh another cliff hanger, I can t wait to read the next chapter to you I love that it incorporates history right into the story, this gives me opportunities to discuss different topics with my boys
I m actually pretty thrilled that I think he will enjoy them now They are full of action and there is a little mini lesson in history Really Voyage with the Vikings is an Adventure in Odyssey Imagination Station adventure to teach about how we would treat our enemies with a bit of history of Leif Erikson I found it to be highly similar to The Magic Tree house Adventures It was a fun read would open good dialogues between parents and their children.
